Stride for Life: A Walk to Inspire Organ Donation
(updated 14-07-2023)

Step by step, Lizl Pistorius and Monica Le Roux are embarking on a transformative journey for a cause close to their hearts. From the serene Hartebeespoort, Jasmyn Farmers Market to the esteemed Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, they will walk with purpose and determination. This incredible feat is not only a personal challenge for Lizl and Monica but also a meaningful endeavour to raise funds and awareness for Transplant Education for Living Legacies (TELL), an inspiring Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organisation dedicated to promoting organ and tissue donation. Lizl will also be doing presentations at various schools and hospitals enroot to share her story, and explain the importance of living donations, how to become an organ donor, and why blood donations are needed.

TELL’s mission is to educate and inform individuals about the life-saving potential of organ and tissue donation. By shedding light on this critical issue, TELL strives to create a society where every person understands the significance of becoming a living legacy through the gift of donation. They work tirelessly to break down barriers, dispel myths, and provide support to those affected by organ and tissue transplantation.

Lizl and Monica’s commitment to this cause are unwavering, as Lizl is a living kidney donor and Monica lost her husband due to kidney failure. Having personally experienced the profound impact of organ donation, Lizl carries the torch of hope and compassion, inspiring others to join her in this noble journey. By undertaking this challenging walk, Lizl and Monica aim to raise vital funds that will directly contribute to TELL’s efforts in achieving its goals.

This six-day expedition will commence on Tuesday, 18th July 2023, and culminate on Sunday, 23rd July 2023. Each step taken by Lizl and Monica will not only bring them closer to the finish line but will also serve as a reminder of the countless lives that can be saved through organ and tissue donation. It is an opportunity for the community to rally together in support of this cause and make a lasting impact.

We invite you to join Lizl and Monica on this extraordinary odyssey as they walk for change. By participating or donating, you can make a difference and help TELL create a future where the gift of life is celebrated and cherished. Together, let us stride forward, hand in hand, as we raise funds and awareness for Transplant Education for Living Legacies. Every contribution matters, and every step counts.

Please feel free to walk with them along the way. A support vehicle will be following them for safety.
